Celebrate Your Marriage With These Bold New Rings
We’re living through a period of great cultural change, when old norms and taboos are being looked at with suspicion and greater inclusivity has become a society-wide goal. Case in point: why shouldn’t men wear engagement rings? Why should only women wear a visible sign of their pending commitment? True, men’s engagement rings aren’t new, but neither have they been standard. In fact, Tiffany & Co. – the world’s most famous jewelers – have never, in their 184-year history, created a men’s engagement ring … until now.

Today Tiffany & Co. unveiled The Charles Tiffany Setting, named after founder Charles Lewis Tiffany, the first men’s engagement ring ever created by the company, and it is a stunner. The silhouette harkens back to the signette rings of old, which aristocratic men would have embossed with their initials and used to stamp wax seals on envelopes, but the rest of the design departs from traditional and more conservative engagement band designs. That sleek new aesthetic begins with the materials, which are platinum and titanium in the band, encasing a stunning center diamond, available in up to 5 carats in either round brilliant or emerald cuts.

We especially like the fact that the bands have been subtly tailored to accentuate the chosen diamond cut: round, brilliant diamonds come with a knife-edge band, inspired by the classic look of the Tiffany Setting band, while the emerald-cut diamonds come with a band marked by strong, beveled edges, giving these rings a modern, industrial look, particularly in the darker band colors.
In it’s press release accompanying the news, Tiffany & Co. also reaffirmed their commitment to transparency regarding their supply line, noting the origin (country or region) of each diamond, as well as where it was cut and polished, so that you can shop with confidence, knowing that your symbol of love and union wasn’t mined from a war zone or using exploitative labor practices.
